Since we’re children, we’re presented with behavioral patterns and interests influencing the lives of all of us. And society, as a whole, refuses to put the spotlight on women scientists.
To date, the numbers of women choosing STEM disciplines ( Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics) are still very low.
Countless factors contribute to determining our choices, and one of them is the expectation of how accepted we will feel in a certain place, and how much that place can make us grow by respecting and stimulating us.
The Politecnico di Torino is a place where we grow. Growing up is never easy. Difficulties of any kind, in fact, are a characteristic of all careers, all passions. It will be a road that, if you choose to start, we will travel together and that many other girls before you have already completed with excellent results. Sometimes you may not feel up to it, you may have doubts.
We're here to tell you that we can be a lot of things. The only limitation we place on ourselves are the models that have been imposed on us. This is why WeAreHERe was born.
WeAreHERe is the correction of a wrong narrative, the narrative that Engineering is not a job for women.
WeAreHERe is this and much more.
But most of all, WeAreHERe is us. It is you. A network of women, of female students who are living this wonderful experience.
This is WeAreHERe.
Dear student, welcome to the Politecnico di Torino!
See you soon,
Claudia De Giorgi e Arianna Montorsi
